Unfortunately when they come to the USA/NYC...they bring the same "hatred" and are allowered to get away with it, why? saying it's part of their culture is no excuse nor should it be allowed........."How Stella got her Groove on" the real life story of the man who is now an "outted" gay man says he can never go back home to jamaica. I been to Montego Bay and fooled their asses, LOL LOL.
I was dating this guy who is Jamaican and PUerto Rican, born in Kingston now living in Queens NY and while he is a freak in bed and a real freak, he still had a lot of that bigotry in him. I've told him a few times how can he call gay men (fags and f&&kin homos)when he enjoys giving Transsexuals HEAD and some...needless to say, we are NO longer together...I had to read that MoFo but did he give good head, too be honest GREAT at it, hahahhahaah!
ooooooops, sorry folks...i got caught up in the writing and reading ;-)~

I found this Time article absolutely unacceptable. Since I am a member of the Human Rights Campaign I forwarded them a copy and let them know that they need to apply pressure on Jamaica and make that country one of their priorities in Human Rights. You can visit their site at www.hrc.org They do lots of good work.

This homophobic attitude has been spread by the Jamaicans even to Africa. I have a friend who travels often to Ghana and he tells me that the men there often walk hand in hand, innocently, as they've done for centuries. Now along come these homophobic Jamaican men and they have made the Ghanian men self-conscious by calling them "faggots" and "batty-boys". It's outrageous that some Jamaicans think they have the right to judge manhood by their narrow bigoted standards.

I have been to Jamaica many times and have had several Jamaican boyfriends. Over the years their intolerance has grown. The spead of Aids in that country, and the prison riot several years ago, over the passing out of comdoms,Well the hostility has grown , but i find that most of the former British colonys to have this intolerance, from Jamaica to Trinidad.I still travel there and have a great vacation, but it is not a place for the out and out.The Jamaican people as a whole are good people.I saw a program recently and they had two groups of men. One group said they were straight with no hangups, the other very homophobic. They had the each watch a gay porno. the homophobic group had an erection which they denied having, the other group did not. So maybe its not about teaching people to accept us, but teaching them to accept themselves, a much harder task. peace
