Movie in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Robert De Niro, Angelina Jolie and Matt Damon will soon begin shooting in the Dominican Republic "The Good Shepherd," a film directed by De Niro recounting the history of the CIA, the national film office said on Thursday.

The actors should arrive between Thursday and Saturday, said Felix Manuel Lora, spokesman for the national film office.

"The government is going to help the crew with the logistics so they can do their work without any inconveniences," Lora told The Associated Press.

Several of the country's historic districts will be used for scenes that are supposed to take place in Africa. The crew will shoot until Jan. 13.

In addition to directing the film, De Niro plays James Wilson, one of the spy agency's founders.

Damon will star as a younger Wilson, while Jolie plays his wife.

Several films have been shot in the Dominican Republic in recent years, including "The Lost City," starring Cuban-American actor Andy Garcia, and "La Fiesta del Chivo," based on Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa's novel about former Dominican dictator Gen. Rafael Trujillo. (AP)
