The Latest

There are many people here for DIH2. The tuesday before the festivities started the Sports Bar was packed, but unfortunately there were many queens there with attitude. Things improved considerably on Wednesday night when many new faces appeared and the atmosphere changed considerably. So far, so good. One hitch though. The place where the opening reception was supposed to be held was raided, closed and all the furnishing confiscated. It seems the owner didn't pay his bills and the courts gave the order to close them down. Kenny and Laurence being very detailed oriented stopped by the place to check on things, and thank GOD they did, because then they would've known nothing until they showed up that night and found out that the place was closed with everyone on their way. Because they found out earlier in the day they were able to pull some strings and host the reception at Punto Bar. Good job Kenny and Laurence!

I was the guide on the tour of the city today. I was late to meet the bus, because I am working with a friend to get his apartment together and it is been a monumental task, but it is almost through and boy is it beautiful. The tour was very nice, but only lasted 3 hours. Santo Domingo is a huge city and would take a couple of days to see everything that should be seen, but this was just an encouragement for those who visit again to get out of the Colonial Zone and see what else the city has to offer.

I didn't get a chance to write about it, but last week was the 1st anniversary for the Sports Bar and the 3rd anniversary for Jay-Dee's. I got a chance to stop by and wish David many more birthdays for the bar. Even an unwanted bullshit artist, Lucifer, stopped by being phony. I stopped by Jay-Dee's, but it was soooo crowded that I couldn't even get in the door. But from all reports the show and anniversary party were great and the Monaga Blog wants to also wish Jerry many more anniversaries for Jay-Dee's.

My "brother" is still going around talking shit. It is too bad he is mad and mad and bitter because the building he thought he was going to open with Lucifer is still closed and not likely to open anytime soon. One question "brother?" If you hate me so, then why are you still going around with the Monaga name on the van? I would think you would want not to be associated with an obese cocaine and buggarone addict. Oh well, I am flattered. No one is fooled. Look, if you are looking for a reliable way to be picked up from the airport then why not have Gerardo come pick you up? I mean, isn't the choice obvious? Go to www.monaga.com for more information.

Okay, getting ready to hit the streets and see what is going on. Will post more later and I hope to have some pictures.

Anthony let that "brother" go. You are doing some great things down there and let your mind rest on that. I have briefly met you several times (Scotch/Byrons opening party and last year), and love your energy. Take back that energy and channel it into the new things you are working on. I will be back in a couple of months, and hope to share a drink with ya. I may not be your brother in blood, but we are in the same brotherhood. See ya soon. Peace

Anthony Simbul is right...let go and let God. I couldn't agree with his comments more. You are so well liked and respected by those that know you and your blog is so informational and entertaining, please don't give this "brother" another thought and God will take care of the rest.
Just keep on being who you are, 'cause that's wonderful.

Hey Anthony: I have to agree with the above posters. If Brother is still running around SD with your logo on his truck, it only shows what a fool he is.

You have way too much going on to let this occupy any more of your energy. That being said, I imagine it's easier said than done. But we know you will rise above it.

Also, please continue with the full coverage of DIH2. Their site unfortunately hasn't been updated in about 2 weeks. :-(

Thanks everybody, and I agree with you. All I am doing is making my side of the story known. But everyone's point is well-taken.

Thanks for the comments.

Anthony, I bet that tour of Santo Domingo, even though only 3 hours long, was one of the best any visitors could possibly hope for! Best wishes with your projects and, as other on here have written, just let the "brother" work through his issues on his own. He'll realize he's wrong soon enough...

Everyone, all the comments about letting things go was heard and understood. Just wanted to say again, that entry had nothing to do about me holding on to the drama. It was just my response to what is going on. Where else can I answer my critics but here on my blog?

So again, please understand, I'm not obsessing over this. But, when someone is spreading obvious falsehoods, then I must counter them. I mean, I haven't wrote nearly enough about what is going on.

Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate it.

As for the anonymous comment, I have decided that I am no longer going to allow you to use my blog to anonymously attack me. Here's a thought, why not start your own blog? It can be totally dedicated to attacking me. Just a suggestion.

lucky "brother" is not in the good USA since Monaga is a patented name and INC.

Anthony, you're right. It is your blog and actually, what better way to reach an audience and fill them in. Sure, it ain't always pretty, and with so open a forum, haters are bound to launch an attack.

From what I can see, the blog is an honest, open ended portrayal of the life of an expat living in Santo Domingo.

Since you don't moderate comments, the exchange between what you write and what the readers respond to is bound to rattle some cages.

That you took a chance and started a new life, AND DEVELOPED A FOLLOWING could only ruffle the feathers of some of those with tender egos and sharp nails.

I went back to your archives and re-read a lot of your posts and most of the comments. Bravo, baby, bravo.

Write what you want, when you want, on the blog... and then write the book!
