Yesterday was Constitution Day in the Dominican Republic. I don't know exactly what it means, but for the locals it means an extra-long weekend. The city is pretty empty as everyone takes advantage of the long weekend to getaway to beaches, rivers and to visit relatives. I was busy this weekend and wasn't able to go to Cabarete with friends. I forgot that this past weekend there was a jazz festival on the northcoast, with many of the performances being free. I had planned an excursion yesterday, but it is overcast and windy. Not the best day to go to the beach. Oh well. Today is beautiful and sunny.
