Well, sad to say, if this past weekend was any indication, JDeez is having a tough time pulling in the crowd. my take on it is that this new club is the hott thing at the moment, whether or not it can sustain itself is another story.

It seems that Jay Dee's has been the place that is most impacted. Cha still has a significant crowd, as does Gazela.

I was in SD 2 weeks ago. Anthony is being kind about JDs. I went a few times and there was never more than 5 people. Gazela is cool but its like cha because it is a very young crowd and queeny. No masculine guys.

ME TOO JIM!!! I go, but I really do not like Cha, it is very Esqualita in the NYC and I NEVER go there. What about Eukaliptis and Friends or the Whisky bar? Or does one have to rely on the good ole' Conde?
The Whisky Bar is closed.....Bar Friends and Eukliptus are hanging on.....one night the bar will be crowded and then the next night no one...if there are tourists in the city, then the boys are there.....JayDees problem may be the price and strength of their drinks but their crowds are definitely smaller....I was there early April. I will be returning early June and I hope things have improved.
I swear to you, Paco's is the new pick-up spot - then again, wasn't it always??? You do more on El Conde than in any bar in Santo Domingo. Just try as best you can to AVOID Santo Domingo when the boatload of Queens come in from the U.S. for the weekend. the boys go scurry then. And yeah, there is no damn reason for a drink to cost damn near $10 in any club in DR. Shoot, Chi Chis give you 2-fers' that'll put you under the table. and that's NYC!!!

This blog is great, excellent reviews of different cities, beaches, hotels, etc. coupled with funny commentary and pics of hot dudes, it's a slice of life for this NYC kid. I hope when I make my first trip out there, you'll be available and willing to meet up and let me buy you a drink or three.

Thanks for the info on the clubs...i'll be in the DR in the summer and hope things kinda settle by then. While I like to go to clubs for the music and NOT techo music but Salsa, Reggeaton and some English NOT like the club"rouge" had and all the screamin "locquitas"...When Arena was open it had a variety of all (straights, locas, gay men and women, buggies,tourists)..it was nice when "masculine papis" sprinkled the atmosphere even if they were "bugarrones". JDs while it had the screamin locas, it has a local flavor...mixture in music but I always heard about the complaints with their liquor and at times the entry fee. Where are the smart business folks are?

Thank you so very much posters 6:53 and 1:32. FYI I always meet the BEST boys on the Conde and on Maximo Gomez near McDonalds's and near the big supermarket. Not interested in the usual suspects at the bars or hanging around Paco's, sorry to hear about the Whisky. But I do like to go shake my shimmy at one of the clubs, so is the new one worth the trip? No one has yet to give her a green light. And I am in NYC and Chi Chi's IS NOT AN OPTION!!!

was in the capital for the weekend and also two weekends before ,,,the best place to meet is in parque duarte in calle billini before the discos get going ..always a good crowd there but at jaydees there was a reasonable crowd there last friday about 80 ,,and also about 15 on thursday ..mainly a more mature and darker skinned crowd but definitely the most handsome and masculine
