Eukliptus

The owner (who is Dominican) of Eukliptus paid me a visit today. He will be re-opening on Thursday, with a big party on Friday. He promises that it is under new management and will have security. Wishing them good luck.

I'm so excited. I'll be spending a couple of days during the holidays in DR and cannot wait to enjoy the sights and sounds.

Will Jake still be bartending? LOL

The place is too small to be a disco. I am hoping that it is a place where clients can go for conversation and meeting new friends. The new owner will need to keep the prices reasonable or he will meet the fate of several other short lived establishments. I welcome this new addition especially if the staff is 100% new.

Let's see how long it will be open, still wishing the New Mew Management Team the best.

Hey...what's the story about what happened with Jayk and the previous owner(s)? I ran into him about a month ago and he is still talking about how he got he was attacked while working there? What gives?

Anthony, what is your evaluation of the new Eukliptus or do you know anyone who has been there? I am getting reports that there are only 2 tables in the place, the music is blaringly loud and the drinks are overpriced. I arrive shortly and was looking forward to going there.

I went there on Friday night and I liked it. Yes, the music is too loud (spoke with owner), but the prices on at least what I was drinking (vodka & cranberry) was the cheapest in the colonial zone. I don't recall how many table there were but I'm sure there were more than two. It has been fixed up and cleaned up nicely. Definitely a more gay feel. It probably won't be for everyone's taste, but it is another option, and so far so good. Not many people there on Friday, but definitely the crowd was more diverse.

I hope they dont turn it into another run down dangerous hustlers place. We need other options. Last weekend I visited Esedeku Bar and I was really impressed by the change they´ve made, the place is bigger and crowd was very different to that of Cha or Jaidees it was full of middle class Dominicans. A funny sign at the entrance saying "No Bugarrones".. can give you and idea why its becoming so popular. Why dont you publish more about this place Anthony ???

Hi Anthony,

What is you assessment of Friends Bar? I got into it with some guy who say he just works there about overcharging me drinks and adding drinks to my tab that I hadn't ordered.
