Yesterday was a beautiful, hot sunny day. The last time Ernest was here we went to Chaco Prieto to take some pictures. I always wanted to go back. You drive to this secluded location. Then you have to hike back into the forest for about a half-hour. And then you see it. Beautiful, crystal clear and ice cold. The town is very rural and poor, but the people take great pride in this area. I have been to many places like this in the Dominican Republic, and often you see a lot of garbage. Not here. Pristine. There are garbage cans along the trail. There were even police patrolling and reminding everyone to take their basura. I'm told there is another more magnificent waterfall about 3 KM further. I will be back to explore, and will bring my camera along.

How far is Bonao from Chaco Prieto? I plan to visit in March. I have been to Salto Baiguate, Salto Jimenoa, Salto Limon but never to Chaco Prieto. Help me with some more specific directions, PLEASE,PLEASE!! The pics are great. Thanks so much.
Anthony, if you have never been to La Presa Hatillo, a few miles outside of Cotui, you must go. It is beautiful and the town is very interesting. Cotui is also interesting and like everywhere there is a LOT of eye candy. The nice thing about the country people is they are so natural and laid back. Thanks for your blog.
