There were many tourists here this past weekend. They had to setup extra tables at Paco's to accommodate everyone. Unfortunately, the club scene is BORING!!! Somebody do something. PLEASE! It is making me want to go to straight clubs. Sheesh!
I think I'll run out to Playa Guayacanes later to watch the sunset and have a pina colada.
How was your weekend?

It is DR's own fault. Bad business climate, bribery all over the place, "dame o prestame dinero" as if it was their right. Who wants to do business over unless they have to?
Not to worry! Eight of us, yes eight, will be in SD in a few days to liven things up for you locals and spend thousands of dollars to bolster the economy in SDomingo!

Hi Rafael, thats sounds great, wish I could join you, smile.. We recently went back and had a nice time but the social scene is much different there now, at least thats how it felt to us, just not quite the same. I do think that cerfew killed much of the excitement in the social arena over there but that shall not stop us from going back this fall, if God is willing and the creek don't rise.Anthony I alsways enjoy your weekly up/dates, so nice of you to keep us posted, Bless your heart. Take care everyone and have fun. Jim from Houston.. real hot and humid here today but no rain after 48 days of rain, a welcome change..
This to Jim: Yes, I agree with you that the curfew has put a damper on nightlife in SD especially if one enjoys to go out clubbing. Most of us never even go out by 11 or midnight and having to go back to your hotel at 2:00 am is not so great either (unless you have some special company with you)! I was last in SD for New Years and have waited 6 months to go back which, for me, is a long time in between visits...the curfew did play a part in this. I do not like to travel alone and whenever I asked someone to go with me they would ask, "Do the clubs still close at midnight? No, thanks!" But this time we are going in a group and plan to spend a few nights in Puerto Plata and other places. On weeknights in the city one must find other alternatives to just going to the clubs which, as Anthony has posted, grows old very quickly. That's why we take along a Bingo game for the mid-week days! Bingo, you say? Are you crazy? Well, those mid-week nights can be slow, so invite some Dominican friends (who might bring over some cute friends of their own)for a round of Bingo, stock up on cold Presidentes, put a few pesos on the table, start calling those numbers and the game is on!

Thanks for the Bingo suggestion, very interesting idea, might be worth a try. When you go over to Santo Domingo do have a great time and a few(oresidentes) for me thanks, JIM from houston
I am coming next week as are a couple of my friends so we will add to the tourists there. It is sad to think the clubs are dying. I wonder if this is the beginning of the end of Santo Domingo as a gay destination.
Dominican Drug trade. Big story on CNN, Lou Dobbs.

Sorry I won't get to hang out Rafael this year in SD...as I go in August. If I didn't get my plane ticket early I would of gone to Salvador Bahia, Brasil as my TS girlfriends finally contacted me and was waiting for me to come in august...I'm making plans for my b'day in Feb to go to Rio for carnival as it falls on my B'day this coming year--2008
Sorry I'll miss Rafael in August...!
