Happy B-Day

"Yesterday I turned 40! 4 ... 0. That slipped out. I hadn't quite made up my mind to admit it. Now I feel as if I've taken off all my clothes."
- Bette Davis as Margo Channing in
All About Eve
Another year has passed, and thank God, I'm still alive. I am now 43 years-old. I have spoken to many people and I thought how odd it is that soooo many people don't like to talk about their age. It is not that I'm all that thrilled with getting older, but I just see it as a fact of life. If you live long enough you are going to get old. And die. That is just the way it is. Unless someone knows something different?

I'm sorry I have not updated the blog in a while, but it has been a ve
ry interesting last couple of days. Friends visiting, and a good friend who popped down and surprised me. All culminating with a private dinner on Sunday. Very nice indeed.

The storm has passed, and again, Santo Domingo was pretty much spared, but Santiago, and other parts of the country were devastated. Again.

Dominican bloggers are taking up the cause of La Casa Rosada, the AIDS orphanage. Click here for more information (in Spanish).

Time magazine is choosing its Top 10 lists of 2007. Topping the Top 10 Fiction list is the powerful book by Dominican auther, Junot Diaz
. If you haven't picked this book up, you should.

For those thinking about what to get me for my birthday? Here is a suggestion below.

Happy Birthday Anthony!
I passed by a few days ago but I didn't see you around. Probably too early (or late?).

I think I saw the father of the young boy pictured above. He was at one of the bars in Santo Domingo. I believe it was Eukliptus.
