Arlenis Sosa Peña

The landmark July issue of Italian Vogue was dedicated to Black models. It featured legends and newcomers alike. One in particular was Dominican newcomer, Arlenis Sosa Peña. This Dominican beauty has taken the modeling world by storm. She was discovered by Dominican designer, Luis Menieur, while walking on the Malecon. She was a runner-up in the Elite Model competition here in the Dominican Republic in 2006. Since she started modeling internationally this past March, she has been in American & Italian Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and walked the runways for Christian Dior and Oscar de la Renta, among others. There is a rumor that she might be the new face of Lancome. What an amazing start for this 19 year old, who has been modeling (internationally) less than a year. Below is a snippet of what they are saying about her on Model.com.

What is it about a girl who within a week of her start as a model finds herself lensing shoots with Stephen Meisel, Mario Testino and Norman Jean Roy for clients like US and Italian Vogue. What is about Marilyn’s new sensation Arlenis Sosa that prompts Oscar de la Renta, who with one glance decides he must dress her for the Met Costume Ball and seat her at his table? Apart from that shimmering skin and lithe, beautiful body it is the sheer unadulterated joy that beams from this girl that makes her such a rare, rare model. See for yourself in this exclusive video for MDX where Arlenis gives off a transcendent beauty!

Hello, Once knew a girl[ I used to model.
At 17 she blew up, Elite did her testing in 1 yr she was in the holiday issue of glammour and Vogue, as the featured model, She was black and beautiful, She was Beverly Johnsons understudy, She could sing like a bird and was not only on her way but THERE.I do not belive since have those two magazines featured the same model let alone a black model. You could not turn and not see her some where in something. and then she was gone. Drugs alcohol too much way too fast. She was just a kid It was 1979-81. I write this to say as beautiful as this girl is, THIS girl I am writing about well I will not go on. Thanks for the read

She is astonishing! I wish her the best of luck with her Career. Had she been in the Miss Universe pagent she would have won instead of Miss Venezuela

She is gorgeous, but sometimes she looks her age and seems to be playing dress up (and I mean that in a good way). But the fantasy shots are to die for. It will be interesting to see how she develops.
