Aaaahhhhh! Just what I needed. A nice little break.Good to be back and so much has happened since I haven't posted. Not much that can be printed here. But interesting all the same. I'll save it for the book. Wink, wink ... nod, nod.
Today I stopped by to see what all the buzz (read about it on Tropical Desires) was about with this new boutique guest house that has been opened for less than a month, Coco Boutique Hotel (photos above). First, its location is perfect. Two blocks from El Conde, right near the Malecon, around the corner from the Sofitel Nicholas de Ovando, and the French Embassy. The guest house has but 4 rooms (for right now), and has the feel of staying in a very chic and stylish bed & breakfast. The furniture and linens, along with beautiful details are found throughout. It is owned by a European couple (she from Ireland, he from Portugal) and they are living on premises and running the place themselves. I would recommend this place for those who just want to come and relax, but still be in the middle of all the action. I don't think it would be suitable for those who like to have too much "company." If you get my drift. If I were you, and you are looking from something small and intimate, I would definitely check this place out. Perfect addition to the Colonial Zone. The President of Republica Dominicana, Dr. Leonel Fernandez, decreed last year that the Santo Domingo Metro would be ready for him to take a ride on February 27, 2008 (Dominican Independence Day!). There is a commercial out heralding the coming of the Metro. Oh, did I mention that there is an election in May 2008? Now, if only the public hospitals could get some much needed equipment, or maybe the government would imrove education. I'm sure it will all come after the election. LOL!I know I go on about the weather, but it has been really great. Most Dominicans complain that it has been a very cold winter on the island. In the mountains it has gone down to the 40's. I'm not complaining, because after watching the news and seeing the weather picture in many parts of the States, well, I will just count my blessings. And I know it will get really hot in a few months. But in the meantime, I will enjoy the humidity-free days. It sure beats s

Eukliptus -- new bar in the Colonial Zone -- had been closed for a minute, because of some electrical issues. But, Ruskin has called me to say that those issues have been resolved, and the place will be open from now on. Promise.
