On Saturday it started raining. By Saturday night, it was raining, A LOT. I had no idea until I checked the Internet (wasn't looking at television) that there was a powerful storm over us. Today it is like a ghost town. Went to the Jaragua Hotel for lunch, and it was packed. The streets are empty and most businesses are closed.

God willing, it will be gone by tonight. I will try and see if I can get some photos.

Until Soon,

I don't know where the links have gone. I have a question out to Blogger. They appear fine for me, but I have been told they are not there.

Let's see what they tell me.

My Dominican bf sent me about 15 photos showing some of the effects of this storm in the DR. In one particular photo, resuers were digging out a dead boy from what appeared to be a mudslide. Too much for me. I deleted them all. The thing is that this storm seemed to appear out of nowhere. Sadly, I think that as global temperatures change, we will see more and more strange events come to pass. Stay well!

The strange thing is that there was no mention in the U.S. media about the approaching tropical storm. Usually they start tracking days ahead of time. I think this literally appeared out of nowhere. It is scary..........

The storm did catch meteorologists off guard, not just in DR.

I do wonder, like the above poster, whether global warming may lead to more storms just "appearing"?

But Santo Domingo seems to miss much of the force of storms that tear through the rest of the Hispanola.

Dear Anthony, I'm glad to know you are safe and made it ok thru the storm.

To the True Frinds of Dr. L, you should not even go there. Anthony is safe in his home, surrounded by and being contacted by his "Loved Ones". Dr. L is also safe from the storm, behind 20 feet of concrete and iron bars in some federal lock up in the states. It amazes me to think that you people are still out there, worshiping Dr. L, who, is NO Docotor, aka, Leon Land, a convicted felon, who stole 100's of thousands of dollars from innocent people and from banks thru bank fraud. And yet you cult followers, you lambs being led to the slaughter, continue to erect shrines to that criminal. There is no more fabu pink & green house, no more fabu swimming pool, no more fabu parties with free drinks. Why don't you go drink some "red koolaid" and be done with it and say goodbye to JIM JONES, I mean Leon Land.

But San Cristobal got it real bad, and that's just 35km down the road! A beautiful town with beautiful people. It's tragic that these storms wreak such havoc.

Anthony, I'm glad to hear you're okay. I just saw a little about the storm, including the news that more than 40 people had been killed. Please take care/cuidate!
