Got a message from the owner of the Foreigners Club Hotel (formerly Casa New Yorker). A long time employee has been let go, and she wanted to clear up some misinformation. Here is the email:
Hello Anthony,
Hello Anthony,
How are you ? So many people have told me to write to your blog site but I have not a clue how to do this, and I have tried. Anyhow, I did want to thank you personally for sending a guest to my hotel the other day.
Also I have been told that somewhere on your site someone has posted the information that the Foreigner's Club Hotel is closed. If you can ... would you please help dispel those rumors? Or forward this email to your blog site............ is such a thing possible?
Anthony. The Foreigner's Club Hotel is not only alive and well, but has just under gone a head to toe redecorating & major over haul & spruce-up. New King Size Beds , LCD TV's , Redone Roof Deck ....... The exterior is next ... The former guests who have returned have raved about the improved standards. And the best of the regular staff continue the tradition.
The problem is simple - a former employee - who once again couldn't answer questions about significant money missing from the Hotel safe, in a fit of embarrassment , he quit in front of a room full of people .... But now this same employee makes a commission by referring my clients ( he has all their email addresses) to other hotels. If he can get people to believe the hotel is closed ..or whatever - it is much easier for him to get them to go to other hotels.
Thank you for your time. If you can post some/any of this it would be great. If not .. I understand.

Interesting. Just the other day on DR1, someone posted a question asking if Hotel New Yorker was closed. It was weird because, the person had just registered as a user and posted the same question in 2 different forums.
It was an obvious ploy to get people to think the hotel was closed. Again, it-was-obvious (to the person who did it cuz i'm sure they read this blog as well)
I love the DR; TMBD- THERE MUST BE DRAMA!
Carry on.
:-)
Foreigners Club Hotel:
Well my experiences has been after numerous emails to the Foreigner's club email address from their site, they never responded to one email(over 4 emails were sent after different intervals). Therefore I don't know if that same individual was in charge of emails such as reading and answering them BUT one way to let people know your still alive and want potential USD then follow up with the emails.
All I can say is SHADY!
Hi, I will be in DR in a few weeks and there are 2 nites that I will be hotel-less. I have never stayed at this hotel but I have friends that have, with mixed reviews. Do you recommend this hotel? Because that fact that you posted the email for me is like a stamp of approval. Also the king sized beds and LCD's are very enticing. If you could post the web address I will check it out. Thanks
Me again, I found the link... I'm having such a blonde moment!!
What a bunch of BS on the aprt of the owner of that hotel. She has many times told that her goal was to change the hotel fro gay friendly to straight, it id well om its way to becoming a "puta hotel".
the management was recently responsible for two guests to check out during the weekend because of his total lack of customer service.
As far as daniel being a thief, BS. Danny was extremely responsible and responsible for the limited success. I will help himall that I can to bring guests to hotels more worthy of gay business, as I too, hava an email list.
Keep up the good work Dasnny, but watch your back the current management can be sinister.
Lets see how many people have tried to run that place. There's Anthony's original Monaga, then Scotch's Casa New Yorker, and Daniel's Foreigner club (though Daniel is supposed to be just the help). I don't know about Anthony but I do know from talking with the other two that the landlady is a very demanding person.
Now that Daniel is gone, my only choice in SD is with Anthony.
I also tried in July 08 when there were no rooms available at the C apartments and they-foreigners club never responded to my emails either. My emails were specific requests. I emailed first before I would call just to get a feel.
Hope she reads all the feed back from this blog and not think some of us will just consider future stays when C apartments is booked up.
so much drama. i wish it was still the casa monaga i really loved it then. anthony was so nice plus all the beautiful guys who came to say hello and make friends. it was like a dream. scotch was a nice guy too poor guy what he went thru. who is this new lady owner why don't she giver her name? do she not wants it to be a gay friendly hotel? what is happenning to santo domingo? thos post's about memorial day weekend worries me because it seem like things is falling apart. don't wanna have to go to puerto rico but some of this post's make it seem like that would be the better choice 4 now.
D.C. GIRL JUST LEFT YESTERDAY
I STAYED AT FOREIGNER'S CLUB FOR 8 DAYS. THIS IS MY 3RD TIME THIS YEAR. THE HOTEL WAS GAY FRIENDLY AND STILL IS. I'VE HEARD SO MANY BAD THINGS ABOUT THE OWNER, ALL FROM THE PAST MANAGEMENT THAT IS GONE, WITH GOOD REASON. IF YOU STAYED THERE YOU HEARD ALL KINDS OF UNDERTONES OF THE DIFFERENT RENTS PEOPLE WERE PAYING, AND HOW THE CREDIT CARD MACHINE WASN'T WORKING, AND HOW SUDDENLY IT WOULD WORK FOR OTHERS. OR DO NOT PAY ON LINE FOR ADVANCE RESERVATIONS. THINGS PUT IN PLACE TO PROTECT WAS NOT USED. NO ONE CAN REALY SAY THE TRUTH EXCEPT OWNER AND MANAGEMENT. I HAD A LOVELY TIME THERE. AND SOME WAS WITH THE OWNER. THE ROOMS WERE VERY CLEAN. THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL IN POINTING OUT THE WRONG TYPE OF GUEST AS WE ALL KNOW CAN BE A PROBLEM FOR TOUREST. LOVELY GENTALMEN WAS ALWAYS DROPPING BY I WAS FLATTERED. I FELT VERY SAFE AT THE HOTEL. IF YOU PLAN TO GO TO THE DR IN THE FUTURE, GET A ROOM THERE, GET A DRINK AND PARTY ON THE LOVELY ROOFTOP THE VIEW IS BEAUTFUL. THE RATES ARE GREAT. ALL IN ALL THE LADY RAN HER BUSINESS, I SAY HATS OFF TO THE FOREIGNER'S CLUB HOTEL.
Everyone is now aware of what is going on and can make their own decisions about where they will stay.
