Last night Lee Studios NYC held a party at the Whiskey Lounge. The Whiskey Lounge could be a nice spot, but unfortunately they don't quite know what to do with it. Last night showed the great possibilities of the space. Lee Studios blended the perfect melange of people, space & ambiance, though the 9 dancers didn't hurt. It was the perfect blend of locals and tourists. There were even a few Dominican socialites milling about.
I think this should be a regular party.
Don't you?

It seems that somebody is trying to save the Whiskey Bar. God knows that they need all the help they can get. I went by there with some friends about nine days ago on a Saturday night and Robinson literally came out, grabbed us, and pulled us inside. We were the only 3 people there, so we decided to have a drink just to help out. No air conditioning, just an open door to the street. After we finished our drinks, we were told that the next night there would be a stripper and that we should come by to check things out (the next night there was no air conditioning and no stripper either). We decided to go to Click on Calle Atarazana and found it to be a very jumping place with a good ambiance (air conditioning, music, lights, lounges for relaxing, etc.) for tourists and Dominicans that would not set foot in Eukliptus or JDs...maybe CHA. Not a bugarron to be seen at Click.
Why one place is empty while another is full is not for me to say. You gotta come to your own conclusions on this one.

I'm probably a little different, but I would want to go by Whiskey every evening I was in SD if only to have a drink with Robinson - not because he's cute (which he is!) but because he's good people, works hard, and I don't want him to lose his job due to the bar closing down because of lack of patronage.
Now I wouldn't necessarily stay there all night, (I like to party too!) but I would want to start there or finish there. And by the way, if he's not busy, Robinson would probably let you buy him a beer and would sit and chat with you. That's how I got to know him when he was at Friends. No one was there one evening when I arrived. He was sitting outside talking with friends. He came in to serve me a beer and stayed to talk. We had a great 45 minutes of interesting chat.
I do hope that bar is still open when I eventually make it back to SD.
If people will give Robinsonand Whiskey Lounge a chance, it can become a real great gay bar with quality men.....and without all of the begging and moaning and groaning and sick mothers, children, and grandchildren..I am going there every night when I am there ..if only for a drink or two.
The no air conditioning would be a problem.
Would love to meet that guy on the 4th picture (5th?) the one holding the Presidente Light. Nice.
