Looking for a House in Santo Domingo?

What about this 11,000 square foot, 16th century mansion. Located in the heart of the Colonial Zone, it has 11 bedrooms, 6 baths and 2 outdoor patios. Painstakingly restored to its original splendor, and with many of the original details. The asking price is 1.7 million (dollars). But, in this weakened economy, I bet they would be ready to negotiate.

Why would it be foolish to buy it?

In New York, you cannot buy a one-room apartment for that price. In DR you can buy a MANSION !!!

Don't judge. If I had the money and the choice of a NY studio apartment or a mansion in Santo Domingo, there would be argument. I would buy the mansion.

It is a mansion but it is tacky and in poor taste....the poor owner couldn't even make the bed.

Absolutely beautiful.

One thing that catches my eye, in this home and many others I've seen in SD, is the artwork on the walls.

Many homes i've visited stateside seem to have nothing on the walls. I was at a party recently in a huge brownstone in NYC. The walls were bare. It made the entire house seem unfinished!

It doesn't have to be expensive or original artwork. A nice frame does wonders.. even for prints.
